Our Newest Star
A rising star of the Japanese football scene, Ryotaro Meshino is ready to launch his career with Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premiership.
Meshino developed his skills with one of the J-League’s most successful teams – and his local club – Gamba Osaka. Consistently a standout performer for the U23 side, the exciting forward scored 17 goals in 56 games; a strike rate of around one in three.
Rewarded for his form, the ‘Japanese Messi’ was handed a first-debut in April 2018, and scored some remarkable goals. This caught the attention of English Premiership Champions Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s side signed the ‘Japanese Messi’ from Gamba in August 2019 and, thanks to a special relationship between the Premier League Champions and Edinburgh’s oldest football club, founded in 1874, loaned him to Scottish Premiership side Hearts.
At Hearts, Meshino will have the opportunity to further develop his skills on the pitch while impressing the fans with his ability. He will learn, grow and prosper in Edinburgh and it is an honour to have this special talent in Scotland, and at Hearts.
